Serendip is a small, independent project that lets someone post about a stranger they noticed in public, hoping that person sees it. By using Serendip, you agree to the terms below. This is a plain-language document, written to actually reflect how the app works — not boilerplate.
You must be at least 18 years old to post or respond on Serendip.
Serendip exists to help people reconnect after a real, brief, in-person moment — not as a tool for anything else. You may not use it to:
Content that violates these rules may be removed, and repeated or serious violations may result in being blocked from using the app.
Every post and response is automatically screened before it's published — this includes a filter for profanity and slurs, personal contact information (phone numbers, emails), and language soliciting hookups or sexual contact. Content that trips this filter is rejected before it's ever saved or shown to anyone. This filter is not perfect and may occasionally block legitimate content or miss content it should have caught — if you believe something was blocked in error, there's currently no formal appeal process since this is a small independent project, but you're welcome to try rephrasing.
Anyone can flag a post as inappropriate. After a small number of reports, a post is automatically hidden from public view pending review — it isn't permanently deleted outright, in case a report turns out to be mistaken or malicious.
You're responsible for what you post. Serendip doesn't review content before it's posted beyond the automated filter described above, and we don't independently verify anyone's identity or the accuracy of anything posted. Posts and responses are provided by users, not by Serendip.
Serendip is provided "as is," as an independent hobby project, without any warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee the app will always be available, error-free, or that a post will ever be seen or answered by the right person.
These terms may be updated as the app changes. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
